In 1804, the Sudak School was founded, and in 1812, the Nikitsky Botanical Garden, which is associated with the development of viticulture and winemaking in Ukraine. At the Nikitsky Botanical Garden, a vine-production training and experimental demonstrative farm "Magarach" was organized, on the basis of which the Institute of Vine and Wine was created. In the Kherson province at the end of the 19th century, Prince Trubetskoy planted 200 acres of vine plantations on his estate in the village of Kazatskoye. At that time, several large vineyards and wineries were also created near Odessa and Nikolaev. In Odessa in 1905, V.E. Tairov organized a wine-making station (now the V.E. Tairov Institute of Viticulture and Winemaking). The educational institution has developed and approved recipes for such fruit and berry wines: Blackcurrant sweet, Yoshta sweet, Sophia's Treasures, Sophia's stars Chudosad, Umanskoe velvet, Muscat aroma. Many of these wines received the highest awards, in particular, at the international Golden Griffin competition. By 1985, the area of vineyards in Ukraine amounted to 209 thousand hectares, and the gross grape harvest - 913 thousand tons. A modern processing base was created in Ukraine. As a result of the anti-alcohol campaign, significant losses were inflicted on the economy. Gross harvest of grapes decreased by 3-5 times. Fruit and berry winemaking was completely destroyed. As is known, the table of King Lev Danylovych was already served wine, which was made from grapes that grew around Lviv. His wife was the Hungarian princess Constantia, so we can assume that she joined the culture of winemaking in the vicinity of Lviv. Over time, Lviv grew as a cultural and political center, and with it, its vineyards. Thus, vineyards grew on the slopes of the High Castle, in Lychakov, Kulparkov, and above all in Vynnyky. In 1785, the German colony of Weinbergen, which translates as Wine Mountains, was founded near Vinniki. German colonists, having settled near Lviv, began to engage in viticulture. The main grape variety they cultivated was Rhine Riesling, brought by them from their homeland.
